History of Lake Eerie

Why the Game?

Lake Eerie was first created in my story as a mysterious place where wild Pokemon were a little bit different. My character, Kataryna, journeyed there, and had many adventures there. And then, after playing too many online games, it occured to me that I should create my own. Hence the Lake Eerie RPG was born.

If you are interested in the tales that spawned the game, they can be found on my Pokemon homepage.

Since those early days, membership of Lake Eerie has increased from three to fifty three - although not all members are regular posters! Many characters have come and gone, some leaving lasting impressions and sorrow when they departed. Currently the lake is at its strongest point, but who knows what the future may hold?

History of the actual Lake

Lake Eerie was formed by the crashing of a great and bizarre meteorite. The volcano, Mount Celeste, which was taller, still remains, and is still moderately active, although it has not erupted in recent centuries. The area is heavily forested, with the northern foothills being a Pokemon reserve, although the southern shores are unprotected.

The forest is mainly pine, and is home to many pokemon, some of the more unusual species. For some reason it appears that Lake Eerie attracts the oddities.

The village was built a little under 200 years ago, and was originally a mining village. The complicated tunnels that intersect beneath the lake, the hills and the surrounding area are deep, maze-like and rich in fossils and metal deposits. However, the area has proved to be very dangerous, with many of these tunnels being unstable and others being so intertwined that one finds them impossible to map. Who knows what hides beneath the depths of the earth! Certainly those who have become lost in the caverns have reported strange sights - from blind, pale Pokemon to strange glowing lights that made their hair stand on end. All these have lead to the lake receiving its name.
